Something worth pondering…

Hello Reader,

Have you ever remembered something someone said or did years ago and felt grateful all over again?

  • Perhaps an unexpected kindness.
  • A conversation that changed something in you.
  • Or someone who saw something in you that you hadn't yet recognized in yourself.

Sometimes those memories seem to have something new to offer us.

Not because the moment has changed.

But because we have.

Over the past few weeks, you've helped me explore the moments that matter through your stories, reflections, and experiences.

And I've been savoring what we've been discovering together.

Friday morning, I was sitting quietly beside a fire in the mountains of western North Carolina.

I wasn't trying to figure anything out. I was simply savoring some of the stories and conversations we've shared over these past few weeks.

And as I sat there, something began to take shape.

I started wondering whether the gratitude we feel for meaningful moments in our past might awaken something in us as we look toward the future.

Whether appreciating what we've received might help us anticipate what could be possible.

And whether that anticipation might change how we participate in the ordinary moments of our days.

Three words kept coming to mind.

I began wondering how they might connect, and eventually sketched out the thought like this:

I'm not sure where this thought will lead, but I'm enjoying exploring it with you.

And here's something I'm beginning to appreciate:

We cannot know in advance which moments will matter most. But knowing that any moment might matter can change how we participate in the moments we have.

You don't have to make anything extraordinary happen.

Perhaps you can simply approach the ordinary moments of your day with a little more awareness, curiosity, and anticipation.

And see what happens.

I hope something in your day surprises you with its beauty, possibility, or meaning.

And if it does, I'd love to hear about it.

I'm grateful we get to explore these things together.

With gratitude…and anticipation,
Kevin
